From my earliest memory books and reading have been something of a passion. As a small child, long after 'lights out' I would use the little torch secreted under my mattress and escape into worlds of mystery and imagination. I once heard an Indian saint talk about the Divine energy that lies behind words. She said that when we read words written from the heart of an author, we can be transported into a direct experience of their world.
